National Art Honor Society is a club at McNeil High School for any students interested in participating in visual arts activities! We meet on Flex Fridays in my room, C128. Currently, our projects include completing the mural near the cafeteria and making a fall/winter themed large-scale drawing to be displayed within the halls of McNeil (pictured below). If you want to join, please bring your $3 dues and flex into the next meeting this Friday.
Welcome back to McNeil for the 2018-19 school year! I would like to encourage my students to participate in the RRISD High School and Middle School course catalog design competition for the upcoming school year and/or the PTSA Reflections Contest. Students should contact me ASAP if they are interested in participating in either/both competitions. The details and specifics are listed below.
The McNeil PTSA is once again offering the Reflections Program for 2018-2019. Student entry forms are available at the link below, on our PTSA website and we will offer a few printed ones to the students’ suites. Entry DEADLINE is Oct. 24th (to the suites). If you know a student who would enjoy this program or would like to explore his/her creativity, please encourage him/her to enter.
Reflections has been a staple arts program in many schools for 50 years. Through the efforts of our Local PTAs, millions of students have found a creative outlet in the areas of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts.
With positive recognition as the focus of this program, rather than competition, students of all ages and abilities can experience the benefits of creative expression and help in finding their own voice in telling their unique story.
Started in 1969 by Mary Lou Anderson, then Colorado PTA President, Reflections has grown to be one of the largest nationwide programs of its kind, with more than 200,000 students participating annually.

With a month into the 2018-19 school year, we are beginning to plan the 2019-20 school year with the compilation of the High School and Middle School Course Catalogs. An exciting part of the process is the course catalog cover contest.
Here are the specifics:
Earlier in 2018, my students and I were asked to design and create a mural for the new attendance office at McNeil High School. The attendance office was relocated to this location as a result of construction at McNeil. My students have taken the challenge of beautifying their school in stride, and are creating a mural inspired by Maverick spirit and the highlighting the various academies within our academy program at McNeil. We have begun the painting phase! More to come as we progress with the mural...
I'm Miles Bowen, and this is my website. I am passionate about the visual arts and I am excited to share my work and the work of my students with you!
